Head Coach

Stephanie KingStephanie King | Women's Lacrosse Head Coach

Stephanie King enters her first season as the Head Coach of the Women's Lacrosse program for the 2024-25 athletic and academic year, having served as the assistant coach for the last two seasons.

In her last year as assistant coach, King helped the team to their second straight MEC Regular Season and Championship Title, where the team posted a 13-5 overall record and a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play.  The Bobcats shined in 2024, having Neila Haney go for her second straight MEC Offensive Player of the Year nod, with Marua O'Neill taking MEC Defensive Player of the Year honors.  Along with Haney and O'Neill, Kerri Hayes, and Jessie Bare were placed on the All-MEC First Team, while Camden DeMaio, Izzy Kelly, and Nicole Gray were named Second Team All-MEC and Megan Keller received All-MEC Honorable Mention.

The 2023 season, King's first as a coach, featured the team reaching new heights at the Division II level, winning their first Mountain East Conference Tournament. She helped FSU to a 12-7 overall record, including a 9-1 mark in MEC play that secured the regular season championship and the number one seed in the MEC Tournament. It was the highest win total for the program since 1992 and their first conference championship since 1991.

Under her direction, nine Bobcats were named All-MEC, including Haney securing Offensive Player and Freshman of the Year accolades. Julia Badolato, Dahlia Trippel, and Mackenzie Cramer received First Team Honors, DeMaio, Delaney Devers, and Gray earned Second Team, while Anna Kearney and Kelly were named Honorable Mention.

Coach King joined Head Coach Taylor Sindall's staff prior to the 2023 season, having completed one of the finest careers in Frostburg history. After her final season, King ranked ninth all-time in program history for goals (152), tied for third in assists (77), and fifth in total points (229). She helped the team transition from Division III to Division II, being named All-MEC as a senior and graduate student, along with a selection as the MEC Offensive Player of the Year in her final season. In each of her last two years, she helped the Bobcats reach back-to-back MEC Championship Game appearances, as well as securing back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2001.

King earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Frostburg in 2021 before earning her Master's degree in Sports Management in 2023.
